Converting public “users” into customers is the key goal for most businesses. Why should your website be any different? Use these 3 tips to turn users into customers.

1. Identify your KPI’s

What do you want out of your website? Of course, everyone wants “sales”, but what does this look like?

Most businesses treat their corporate website like a stylish (and very expensive) business card. Telling people who and where you are is great, but ask yourself – what do you want people to do with that information? You need to structure your website in a way to make that next step both obvious and simple.

2. Prioritize your “Call-to-Actions”

Call-to-actions (or CTA’s) are the button, form or other action you want to direct your users to as the primary goal of your website (based on the KPI’s you identified above).

For some websites this might be a contact form, for others it’s making a purchase. In many cases, you may have different CTA’s in different sections of your website (i.e a search engine vs. an ‘about us’ page).

CTA’s should be visually pleasing and stand out, while complementary to your company branding. CTA’s will draw the user attention, and should be readily accessible at all times.

3. Retargeting

Many users will may not complete a form or leave your website before completing the conversion. Normally, these users are simply lost. Change them into customers with “retargeting”.

Retargeting is identifying users (by way of browser cookies for example) and what they have looked at on your website. You can then use this information to try and redirect them back to completing your conversions.

Have you ever been back to a webpage and received a popup asking you to complete a form? Or received an email to tell you that you have left items in your shopping cart? These are all forms of retargeting.

At its core, retargeting is providing the user with a customised experience based on their previous interactions with your website. You can use this information to best serve their needs. Users who have their needs met, become customers.

If you make the 3 steps a priority, you put yourself in the best possible position to turn those anonymous users, into paying customers. Talk to TechEquipt about how to update, upgrade or revamp your website to best take advantage of these tips and get your website working for you again.
